ON-CAMPUS UNIFORM SHOP – The Gap State High School

The Uniform Shop is a P & C organized business that provides an essential service to the school community in the form of supplying the students uniform items.

A fantastic opportunity is now available for 2 enthusiastic Junior Retail Sales Assistants

This position involves a hands-on sales approach with particular emphasis on personalized customer and product services.  Excellent customer service is a priority, and this position will reflect the high standard required by The Gap P & C.

You must be able to use or willing to learn our computerized retail POS system (Square). Experience working within the retail sector is an advantage (but not essential).  A ‘Working with Children’ check (BlueCard)  is also required. The successful candidates will need to provide BlueCard details before employment commences.

The position is temporary and is for 2-6 hours per shift to assist with extended trading hours during our busy season.    Applicants must be available before and/or after school in Dec, and from 8 January until school returns in 2022. Wages will be at the relevant P & C award rate.

Position Description

Role Title: Junior Uniform Retail Assistant (Retail Operations Stream)

Employment Status:  Casual (Temporary)

Reports To:  The Uniform Shop Assistant shall be accountable to the P&C

President and the Uniform Shop Convenor of the The Gap State High School P & C

  1. Primary Function

To assist the Uniform Shop Convenor with the day to day operations of the Uniform Shop of The Gap SHS P&C Association.

To actively promote the objectives and goals of the Parents & Citizens’ Association within the school community.

  1. Role Duties
  • Assist the Convenor to receive and receipt payments and issue stock items in accordance with Policies and Procedures established by The Gap SHS P & C and in accordance with Education Queensland requirements.
  • Assist the Convenor to maintain records of stock sold and payments received each day in accordance with Policies and Procedures established by the The Gap SHS P & C.
  • Assist the Convenor to receive and process returns of faulty stock in accordance with Policies and Procedures established by the P&C Association.
  • Assist the Convenor to receive, check and put away all stock in a timely manner after delivery to the school. Note any discrepancies on the delivery docket/invoice and report same to the supplier as soon as possible. Advise your Supervisor (Convenor) of all discrepancies and of the outcome of all discussions (written and verbal) with supplier in this regard.
  • Assist the Convenor in ensuring that any volunteer workers:
  1. Are aware of and comply with the set procedures for signing on and off in the Attendance Sheet.
  2. Are aware of and comply with established Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
  3. Are trained in correct stock and money handling and recording procedures as documented in The Gap SHS P & C Policies & Procedures.
  4. Always act in the best interests of the The Gap SHS P & C and the school while on the premises of the Uniform Shop.
  5. Are appropriately attended to in case of injury or illness while on duty and that any such injuries or illnesses are reported to the P&C Association and Administration in accordance with established Administration and P&C Policies and Procedures.
  • Exercise a Duty of Care with regard to all persons (workers, customers, suppliers and visitors) present in and at the Uniform Shop.
  • Assist the Convenor to conduct a full Stock-Take of Uniform Shop and Stationery Shop stock at the end of each month or as otherwise requested by your supervisor.
  • Assist the Convenor to maintain the Uniform Shop in a clean and tidy condition at all times. C
  • Assist the Convenor to process second-hand uniforms for sale.
  • Assist the Convenor to process any Lay-By’s and holding aside of stock items in accordance with documented The Gap SHS P & C Policies and Procedures.
  • Undertake any relevant training as requested by your Manager.
  • Follow the directions of the appointed Emergency officers (eg. Fire Wardens) and/or the Principal and his/her appointed representatives in the event of an Emergency or an Emergency Drill.
  • Be available and replace the Uniform Convenor as and when required.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct provided by the Employer.
  • Treat all customers, colleagues, community members and other stakeholders with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Follow all reasonable and lawful directions of your managers/supervisors and the P&C executive.

Uphold a high ethical and professional standard and represent the P&C Association positively at all times.
